About the Book
Where's Waldo? in Hollywood is a search-and-find puzzle book written and illustrated by Martin Handford, first published in 1993 by Candlewick Press.
The book takes Waldo-watchers on a spectacular tour of Tinseltown, following Waldo and his friends through the crowded sets of silent movies, musicals, westerns, swashbuckling adventures, epics, fantasies, and lots more. Three years in the making, it challenges the eyes and wits of every Waldo-watcher.
The Characters
Waldo
The beloved main character, recognizable by his red-and-white striped shirt, bobble hat, and round glasses. Waldo travels the world — and in this book, through the world of Hollywood movies — hiding in plain sight among enormous crowds.
Woof
Waldo's loyal canine companion. The catch? You can only ever see his tail sticking out from behind something. Finding Woof's tail is one of the trickiest challenges in every scene.
Wenda
Waldo's friend, who shares his love of travel and adventure. She also wears red and white stripes, making it important to look carefully at the details.
Wizard Whitebeard
A mystical magician with a long white beard and flowing robes. He carries a staff and can be found observing the chaos of each scene with wizardly calm.
Odlaw
The villain of the Waldo universe, dressed in yellow and black stripes — the inverse of Waldo's outfit. He's wicked enough to steal the scene, and sneaky enough to be hard to find.
